How Sope Dirisu started his career
When Sope Dirisu was 12 years old, he made his acting debut in the school production of “Wizard of Oz” where he played the role of a Jitterbug dancer. In 2012, at the age of 21, he auditioned for the Royal Shakespeare Company’s Open Stages Programme. His first stage role was as “Pericles” in Shakespeare’s Pericles, Prince of Tyre. He later returned to the National Youth Theatre where he trained in the REP company program for eight months. Ever since then, Sope Dirisu has acted in several movies and television series including “The Mill”, “Utopia”, “Humans”, “The Casual Vacancy”, “Siblings”, and “Undercover”.
In 2016, he appeared in three films including “Criminal”, “The Huntsman: Winter’s War”, and “Sand Castle”. In 2020, he began starring as Elliot Carter/Finch in the Sky series “Gangs of London”; in 2022, he starred as the titular character in the period drama film “Mr. Malcolm’s List”.
