Ayra Starr’s childhood and education
Ayra Starr was born into a music-loving family on June 14, 2002. She is a native of Edo state but grew up in both Lagos and Cotonou, where she was born.
The singer cum model had a hard time forming close friends during her childhood days as her family moved frequently because of her father’s business.
Ayra Starr graduated from Les Cours Sonou University in Cotonou with a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations and Political Science.
Ayra has had a passion for singing, songwriting and modelling from her childhood days. As a little girl, she would often compose songs and write them down in her notebook during her spare time.

Ayra Starr discovered her talent for singing at a very tender age. Additionally, she was born into a music-loving family and was also an active member of her church choir.
Ayra Starr, accompanied by her brother, Dami and a songwriter known as Milarofficial on social media, would always visit a recording studio close to her house to make music and covers of some of her favourite songs.
Ayra started posting some of her musical work on her IG page at the age of 17.
Ayra Starr was signed to Quove Model Management on August 27, 2018, as a model. It was the same year she lost her father. While signed to Quove Models, Ayra worked for companies like Concept Fashion Magazine, Mazelle Studio, Krisari Entertainment, and Esperanza women’s wear brand.
She also starred as a video vixen in the music video of “Dear Future Wife” – a song by young Nigerian Afro-RnB singer, Eri Ife.
Ayra uploaded her original work called “Damage” online in December 2019. This served as her call to the limelight. She was subsequently signed to Mavin Records in 2020 and her deal was announced by Mavin boss Don Jazzy in January 2021 after she released her debut self-titled 5-track EP, “Ayra Starr”.
Ayra Starr’s brother, Dami was credited as a writer on one of her EP tracks and also a writer on Johnny Drille’s single, “Mystery Girl”.
