Nosferatu (2024) is an American gothic horror film written and directed by Robert Eggers. It is a remake of the 1922 silent film Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror.
In the 2024 film Nosferatu, Count Orlok aka Dracula dies from exposure to sunlight after Ellen distracts him by allowing him to feed on her blood until sunrise.
Unknown to her husband (there is a hint the professor may have been aware or deciphers this), Ellen decides to sacrifice herself for the country’s good and end the deadly plague. She summons Orlok to her bedroom where she grants him his desire by re-pledging herself to him, allowing him to feed on her until sunrise.
Poor old Dracula lost track of time in the excitement of finally tasting Ellen’s blood. He is distracted by the feeding and doesn’t notice the sunrise. As the sun rises, his eyes bleed, and he eventually screams in pain, dying on top of Ellen.
Ellen dies from loss of blood.
The professor proclaims that her sacrifice has broken the curse and ended the plague after he finds them. It was a bit strange that he was first to find them considering Ellen’s husband, Thomas Hutter, and Dr Sievers had left Orlok’s abode before him.
Unlike the original film, the 2024 Nosferatu remake shows the pioneer vampire dying from exposure to sunlight. In the original 1922 silent film, Orlok vanishes into thin air, leaving behind a puff of smoke.

On a personal level, I did not like that the film was snubbed in the acting categories as I feel the actors did an amazing job in their roles and representation of their characters, especially Johnny Depp’s daughter Lily-Rose Depp as Ellen, Nicholas Hoult as Thomas Hutter, and Willem Dafoe as The Professor.
Simon McBurney was also incredible as Count Orlok’s obsessed servant, Herr Knock.
