American actor and filmmaker Jason Momoa has found himself on the wrong side of Instagram users after taking photos at the Sistine Chapel in Italy.
Shortly after the 42-year-old actor posted photos of himself posing in front of the famous Michelangelo paintings of the chapel on May 9, displeased fans flooded his comment section with angry reactions.
Apparently, visitors are not allowed to take pictures in the Vatican City chapel and Momoa’s photos were taken as a sign of disrespct.
The “Aquaman” star who is currently in Rome shooting “Fast X”, the 10th instalment in the “Fast & Furious” film saga, later apologized in a video posted on his page.
He said:
“I would never want to do anything to disrespect someone’s culture. So if I did, I apologize.”
He added:
“I definitely paid to have that private moment and gave a nice donation to the church”.
The apology video which shows a sweaty, shirtless Jason Momoa in the middle of a workout session has strangely gone viral, reaching over 3 million views in a few hours.
