Ike Ekweremadu and wife arrested in the UK for organ harvesting

Nigeria’s former deputy senate president Ike Ekweremadu and his wife, Beatrice Nwanneka Ekweremadu, have been arrested in the United Kingdom for conspiring to bring a child to the UK to harvest organs.

According to the UK Metropolitan Police, Ike Ekweremadu, 60, and his wife, Beatrice Nwanneka Ekweremadu, 55, were found to be facilitating the travel of a yet-be-identified child to the UK in order to harvest their organs.

The couple has been charged with conspiracy to harvest organs, an offence under UK’s modern slavery legislation.

They have been remanded in Police custody and will appear at Uxbridge Magistrates Court on Thursday, June 23, 2022, DNB Stories Africa learnt.
