Nigerian singer Naira Marley announced the cancellation of the planned #ENDSARS protest via his Twitter handle this morning.
The protest earlier scheduled to hold today, October 6, was intended for Nigerians to demonstrate their grievances against the unlawful activities of men of the SARS police squad.
The musician announced the cancellation of the protest at the last minute via a tweet posted on his Twitter page this morning.
The singer said he decided to cancel the protest because “a lot of changes” is being made already. He asked his supporters and protest-ready Nigerians to allow a week too see the changes and if not the protest will then go on.
Naira Marley wrote on Twitter:
“We won’t be protesting anymore because there’s a lot of changes being made right now. As a Marlian we will give them a week to see the changes and if there’s no changes we will start a mass protest. #togetherwecan.”
Naira Marley also held an Instagram live chat with Police spokesman Frank Mba at 11 am today, October 6 where they discussed the concerns of young Nigerians on the issues of #SARS operations.
Mr Mba also during the live chat answered questions regarding what the Force is currently doing to address the issue.
