What record label is Joeboy signed to?

Nigerian fast-rising singer and songwriter Joeboy is currently one of the hottest music sensations making waves in Nigeria right now.

Joeboy’s journey in music has been just as impressive as it has been interesting.

Joeboy whose real name is Joseph Akinwale Akinfenwa was discovered by the Banku master himself, Mr Eazi back in 2017 through his talent discovery initiative, emPawa Africa.

In 2017, Joeboy who was just 20 years old at the time posted a video of himself covering EdSheeran’s “Shape of You” on Instagram.

Mr Eazi’s attention was called to the video and he liked it, so much that he sent Joeboy a DM on Instagram immediately.

He would later encourage the young aspiring singer to enrol for his emPawa funding and mentorship program.

Joeboy took Eazi’s advise and signed up for the program, eventually becoming the first of 100 recipients to receive a $3000 grant out of the total $300,000 fund aimed at helping a new generation of African artists find mainstream success.

Joeboy used the money to shoot the music video of his song “Faaji” and it was all growth for him from there.

Consequently, Joeboy got signed to Gorilla Sauce Entertainment® / emPawa, a record imprint owned and managed by Mr Eazi.
