Controversial Anambra prophet Onyeze Jesus arrested by the police

Controversial Anambra prophet Onyeze Jesus has reportedly been arrested by the police following a viral video of him spraying N50 naira notes at naked worshippers bathing openly in a lake.

Onyeze Jesus whose real name Onyebuchi Okocha is the founder of Children of Light Anointing Ministries located at Nkpor, a city very close to Onitsha in Anambra State.

The Anambra State Government had earlier condemned Prophet Onyeze Jesus and his worshippers’ action in the video, describing it as “criminal and indecent”.

He later apologized over his conduct in the video.

It was gathered the controversial prophet was picked up by the police in the evening of Wednesday, January 27, 2021.

A spokesperson of the Anambra State Police Command, Haruna Mohammed, also confirmed the arrest but declined to give further details.

The Anambra State Government has accused Onyeze Jesus of promoting “superstitions and strife” by telling his gullible followers that their misfortunes are caused by family members, relatives and friends.

The statement also condemned the abuse of the naira notes by the pastor, an act punishable by a jail term of not less than 6 months or fine of N50,000, or both.
