Who is Rahama Sadau?

Rahama Sadau is an award-winning Nigerian Hausa actress.

She is popular in both mainstream Nollywood and in the Hausa branch of the Nigerian movie industry called Kannywood. Sadau has featured in several top-selling movies and has earned lots of awards and recognition for her name.

She is fondly referred to as the “Priyanka Chopra of Kannywood” by some of her fans.

Rahama Sadau’s early life and childhood

Rahama Sadau was born on December 7, 1993, in Kaduna State in Northern Nigeria. She is currently 29 years old, as of February 2022. Her father Alhaji Ibrahim Sadau is a well-known Hausa businessman and a native of Kaduna State, while her mother originally hails from Gombe State.

Sadau grew up in Kaduna alongside her three sisters, Zainab Sadau, Fatima Sadau, Aisha Sadau, and her brother Haruna Sadau. Haruna Sadau got married in January 2021.

Rahama Sadau’s education

The 29-year-old actress had her primary schooling at Labiyi International School, Kaduna, after which she proceeded to Kaduna Capital School for her Junior Secondary Education. After completing her JSS3, she moved to Misbahul Islam School, Kaduna where she obtained her SSCE.

She also attended Kaduna State Polytechnic where she graduated with an HND in Business Administration. She later travelled to Cyprus where she gained admission to study at the Eastern Mediterranean University in North Cyprus, graduating with a BSc in Human Resources Management.

How Rahama Sadau started her career

Sadau joined the Kannywood movie industry in 2013 with the assistance of ace actor, Ali Nuhu.

She came into the limelight that same year following her debut in the movie “Gani Ga Wane.” The movie featured other top Kannywood actors and actresses including Ali Nuhu.

Her exceptional performance in the movie earned her recognition in the industry and also earned her other roles in both English and Hausa movies.

Is Rahama Sadau married?

As of February 2022, Hausa actress Rahama Sadau is not married and does not have a husband.

There are rumours that the Kannywood star is currently in a serious relationship with an undisclosed man and that they are planning to get married soon, but these rumours have not been confirmed.

Rahama Sadau has suffered a good deal of controversies since the launch of her acting career mostly due to her tribe and religion.

Rahama Sadau: MOPPAN and Kannywood suspension

In 2016, she was suspended by the Motion Picture Practitioners Association of Nigeria (MOPPAN) – the association that regulates Kannywood movies, for appearing in a romantic music video by Classic Q.

In 2018, the suspension was lifted with the help of Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje.

During the time of her ban, she kept busy with other projects and worked on several English productions. In 2017, she started her own production company that she named Sadau Pictures. Her first movie production was titled “Mariya.” It starred popular actors like Ali Nuhu, Sani Musa Dariga, Fati Washa, and Sadiq Sani Sadiq.

Rahama Sadau backless dress controversy

In 2020, the actress posted a picture of herself wearing a “backless dress” on her social media page. This caused a stir online and made an Islamic scholar named Lawal Gusau to petition the then Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar Adamu to arrest and charge the actress to court.

According to him, the backless dress is blasphemy against Prophet Mohammed. This petition was backed by the Arewa Twitter Community, condemning Sadau for promoting indecent dressing which is Haram in Islam.

It was even falsely reported that Rahama Sadau was sentenced to death for blasphemy due to the “seductive photos” but this was later denied and tagged as fake news by Buhari’s media aide, Bashir Ahmad.

The actress was eventually forced to tender an apology and the video of her apology was posted on her social media pages.
