Banky W speaks on why he chose to run under PDP

Nigerian musician cum politician Bankole Wellington, better known by his stage name Banky W, has shared the reason he decided to run under the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

Banky W who recently clinched the PDP ticket for Eti-Osa Federal Constituency with 24 votes against his primaries opponent Sam Aiboni’s 5 votes, spoke about his decision to join PDP in a recent interview with Chude Jideonwo.

Speaking about his choice to run under PDP, Banky W, 41, acknowledged his desire to “infiltrate the system” through the “major platforms” that exist.

He said:

We have to engage with Nigeria where it is and not where we want it to be. At the end of the day, we can’t be content with just shouting from the sidelines. We can realize that some of us have to infiltrate the system, some of us have to get into the major platforms that exist and reform even those platforms from within. So this is bigger than me – and I say this with all sincerity and with all honesty – that it’s much bigger than me trying to get a seat in the House of Reps. This is about me opening the door for like minds to get into the system.”
