In December 2024, Blake Lively sued Justin Baldoni for sexual harassment and planning a smear campaign against her. The dispute centers on their collaboration in the 2024 film “It Ends With Us,” where Blake plays Lily Bloom and Baldoni directs and also stars as Ryle Kincaid. Lively filed a complaint with the California Civil Rights Department, alleging that Justin showed her nude pictures, fat-shamed her, and spoke about a past porn addiction while they were shooting the movie. She also accused Baldoni and his PR team of conducting a public relations campaign to damage her reputation.
However, Baldoni denied these allegations and filed a $400 million lawsuit against Lively, her husband Ryan Reynolds, and their publicist Leslie Sloane. He alleged that they falsely accused him of sexual assault and tried to hijack the marketing of the movie “It Ends With Us.”
Text messages from April 2023, included in the $400 million lawsuit, reveal Lively expressing disappointment over Baldoni’s lukewarm response to her version of the famous rooftop scene in the movie. In the text, Blake shared that her husband, Ryan Reynolds, and her best friend Taylor Swift had praised her version of the scene. She went on to describe them as her “dragons” who would do anything to protect her. However, recent reports suggest that Taylor Swift did not appreciate the “dragon” title and, in fact, did not want to get involved in the Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively drama.
Baldoni also sued The New York Times for $250 million over the paper’s article, claiming he planned a smear campaign against Blake Lively.
Update on Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively feud
In January 2025, The Daily Mail released a nearly seven-minute voice note of Justin Baldoni, which he allegedly sent to Blake Lively at 2 a.m, in 2023. In the voice note, he apologizes for not being open enough to the script changes Blake made. Justin also admits he is “a very flawed man” and references Lively breastfeeding her then-newborn baby.
The court held a pre-trial hearing in New York on February 3, 2025, as part of the ongoing legal battle between Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively. During this hearing, Lively’s team successfully got Baldoni’s $400 million lawsuit dismissed. The judge, however, consolidated Justin Baldoni’s $400 million action and Blake Lively’s lawsuit. With these developments, both parties continue to prepare for a trial scheduled for March 9, 2026.
