Stray bullet kills UNIPORT student returning from church in Delta State

A final year student of the University of Port Harcourt, Nigeria, identified as Nzete Ogochukwu Patrick has reportedly died after being hit by a stray bullet in Delta State.

Ogochukwu was said to be returning from church on Sunday, August 16 when he was hit by a stray bullet in one of the quarters in Ogume Town in Ndokwa West Local Government Area of the state.

There have been reports of an ongoing communal crisis going on in Ogume Town.

Hundreds of students yesterday took to the streets in Asaba, Delta State, to protest the killing of Nzete Ogochukwu Patrick.

Before his death, Nzete Ogochukwu Patrick was a final-year student of Electrical Engineering at the University of Port Harcourt.

The student protesters visited the the State Government House in Asaba where they demanded that Ogochukwu’s killers be found and prosecuted. The students also called on the government to find a permanent solution to the communal crisis going on in Ogume Town.

Nzete Ogochukwu Patrick would have graduated this year but the coronavirus pandemic forced schools to close.
