Omah Lay appears in court in Uganda

Nigerian singer Omah Lay who was arrested in Uganda yesterday alongside fellow musician Tems after performing at an event made his first court appearance today, December 14.

The two singers have been remanded in prison and will reportedly appear in court again on Wednesday, December 16, 2020, alongside their managers and organizers of the show they performed at.

According to court papers, the arrested persons were charged with “negligently doing acts likely to spread infectious diseases.”

Omah Lay and Tems were arrested after performing at an event called The Big Brunch, which held at Speke Resort, Wavamunno Rd, Kampala, Uganda.

It was Ugandan artist Bebe Cool that first called for their arrests before the government intervened.
