#FreeOmahLay – Nigerian singers Omah Lay and Tems arrested in Uganda

Two Nigerian music sensations Omah Lay and Tems have been arrested in Uganda reportedly for violating the country’s COVID-19 restrictions.

The musicians were reportedly in the country for a show before the arrests happened.

Uganda’s assistant superintendent of police, Luk Owoyesigyire confirmed the arrests Sunday evening, December 13.

Following the news, Nigerians have launched the #FreeOmahLay hashtag on Twitter, demanding that the singers get released.

Singer Omah Lay has confirmed he was taken into custody by the Ugandan police.

He wrote:

“Yes I’m with the Ugandan police… something about the show from last night. Everything would be fine.”
