BREAKING: Uganda court orders immediate release of Omah Lay and Tems, case withdrawn

An Uganda Magistrate Court has ordered the immediate release of Nigerian singers Omah Lay and Tems who were arrested on Sunday, December 13, after performing at an illegal event held at Speke Resort in Kampala.

The two were charged with doing “acts that are likely to cause the spread of infectious disease” and arraigned in court on Monday, December 14.

They were then remanded at separate prisons, awaiting their next court appearance on Wednesday, December 16.

Following the outcry from Nigerians on social media and the intervention of the Nigerian authorities, the charges against the musicians have been dropped.

A court has ordered their immediate release.
