The 14th Headies Awards was held Sunday, February 21, 2021. The show was a combination of a prerecorded virtual broadcast and a live event due to COVID-19 restrictions.
The live event took place at Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, and was attended by just nominees. There was no live audience.
The red carpet began at 5 pm while the main event commenced around 9:50 pm.

In what has been described as the “tightest” category at the Headies, new music sensation Omah Lay knocked off three other strong contenders to clinch the coveted “Next Rated” artiste award which also comes with a car gift.
The Headies Next Rated Award is a voting category that rewards the most promising act in the year under review.
Omah Lay who won this year’s Headies Next Rated Award was nominated alongside top new talents, Tems, Oxlade and Bella Shmurda.

Bad Boy Timz wins 2020 Headies ‘Rookie of the Year’
The Headies Rookie of the Year Award is a voting category that rewards an artiste who has had a successful year musically but did not drop an album in the year under review.
New talent Bad Boy Timz trumped four other talents to clinch the awards.
The five Rookie of the Year nominees at the 2020 Headies are:
