‘I stole plantains to raise money for my girlfriend’s makeup’ – Bayelsa plantain thief

A young man arrested for stealing plantain bunches from a farm in Bayelsa community has claimed he committed the offense in order to raise the money his girlfriend demanded for her makeup.

The man whose name has not been disclosed told community leaders after he was caught that he stole the bunches of plantain in order to raise the N10,000 his girlfriend demanded from him.

According to him, he resorted to stealing after the deadline she gave to him drew close.

The incident reportedly took place in Ebedebiri, Sagbama Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.

The suspected plantain thief revealed he is from Angiama community and begged the community leaders and farmers to have mercy on him.
