Meet Nwando Phina Okpalaeke – the first female pilot to land a plane at new Anambra International Airport

The Governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano, has inaugurated the new Anambra International Cargo And Passenger Airport at Umueri on Friday, 30th April, 2021.

Following the big event, Anambra State indigenes and Nigerians, in general, could not stop singing the praise of one of the pilots that landed the test flights, Captain Nwando Phina Okpalaeke.

Meet Captain Nwando Phina Okpalaeke

Captain Nwando Phina Okpalaeke is one of the pilots that successfully landed a test flight at the newly constructed Anambra International Cargo And Passenger Airport, Umueri.

She has officially become the first female pilot to land a plane at new Anambra International Airport.

Captain Nwando Phina Okpalaeke hails from Azia in Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State.

She is a Computer Science graduate of Kwame Nkrumah University in Ghana.

Following her graduation from the university, Captain Nwando traveled to South Africa to train at an air school there.

It was at the South African air school that she got her Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) – the certification that allows her to fly commercial planes.

Captain Nwando Phina Okpalaeke is currently working with Air Peace, one of the leading privately owned airlines in Nigeria.
