Hinny Humoren – the young woman who was reported missing after going for a job interview at an undisclosed location in the Airport Road area of Uyo and sparked the #FindHinnyHumoren campaign on social media has been found dead.
Hinny Humoren’s suspected killer, one Uduak Frank Akpan has confessed to killing and burying her in a shallow grave.
Hinny Humoren’s real name is Iniobong Umoren and she was last seen on April 29, 2021, before she was later found dead.
How the #FindHinnyHumoren hashtag started:
On the 29th of April, a Twitter user @Umohuduak1 raised alarm over her missing friend.
She wrote on Twitter:
“Y’all my friend @HinyHumoren is in trouble and she needs our help. I’m currently in Lagos and I can’t help than to put this out there. Earlier today she told me she was going for a job interview at airport road which is quite far from her house.”
Hinny Humoren’s friend later in another post disclosed that she has been found dead.
Her post read:
“Friends, it is with a heavy heart I type to inform us that our friend, @HinyHumoren who was reported missing some days ago, has been found dead. She was murdered and buried in a shallow grave by her abductor, Uduak Frank Akpan. #RIPHinyHumoren.”
How Nigerians on social media helped solve Hinny Humoren’s kidnapping
Nigerians on social media helped to identify Hinny Humoren’s alleged killer, one Uduak Frank Akpan from Nung Ikot Obio, by providing details about his locations and contacts.
After he was declared wanted by the Police, Uduak Frank Akpan initially ran to Oron to hide. But he returned back to Uruan as pressure to find him mounted.
According to local media reports, he was later captured with the help of his cousin and taken to the house of the Uruan LGA chairman, Surv. Iniobong Ekpeyong.
It was there that he confessed to killing Hinny Humoren and narrated how he buried her in a shallow grave.
The Chairman had no choice than to hand Mr Uduak Frank Akpan over to the Police to face justice.
