Who is a Mercy Chinwo?
Mercy Chinwo is a Nigerian gospel singer, songwriter, and stage performer.
Mercy Chinwo’s first recognition came after she won Season 2 of the talent show, Nigerian Idol, in 2012. Today, she has become popular for her gospel hit songs including “Excess Love” and “Omekannaya”.
Mercy Chinwo’s full name is Mercy Nnenda Chinwo. She was born as the first daughter and fourth child into a family of five children on September 5, 1990. Mercy lost her father at a very young age.
Though the 31-year-old singer does most of her songs in the Igbo language, she is originally from Ikwere in Obi-Akpo Local Government Area of Port-Harcourt, Rivers State. Mercy Chinwo is a graduate of the prestigious University of Port-Harcourt, though her course of study is not known at this time.
Mercy Chinwo’s marriage and wedding
As of the time of writing this report, Mercy Chinwo is not married and does not have a husband. She has also never shown anyone to the public as her boyfriend.
It is speculated that the singer is keeping her relationship and love life very guarded and far away from any media attention. There are rumours that she is currently dating a “God-fearing man” but has decided to keep the relationship away from the public till their marriage. A source told DNB Stories Africa that she is dating a “pastor of a big church in Lagos”.

On June 23, 2022, Mercy Chinwo announced she is engaged and set to marry Pastor Blessed Uzochikwa, the resident pastor of The Waterbrook (TWB) Church in the Lekki area of Lagos.

As of the time of publishing this article (December 2021), gospel singer Mercy Chinwo is not married and does not have a husband. However, the singer is currently engaged to Pastor Blessed Uzochikwa. Mercy Chinwo’s husband-to-be is the resident pastor of The Waterbrook (TWB) Church in Lagos.
Mercy Chinwo’s children
As of the time of writing this post, gospel artiste Mercy Chinwo has not given birth before and does not have children. The young singer is still unmarried and has probably decided to wait till after marriage to start having kids.
How Mercy Chinwo started her singing career
The inspirational singer started her career at the tender age of 8 as a member of the children’s choir in her local church. She subsequently joined the adult choir from there and later rose to the position of a music director. Her church is reportedly known as The Apostolic Church, Rumudara Assembly, located in Maritime Field, Port-Harcourt.
Mercy Chinwo’s journey to stardom started after she won Season 2 of the Nigerian Idol talent show in 2012. She would later go on to release several top-charting gospel hits and establish herself as a household name in gospel music
She is currently signed to the gospel music record label, Eezee Conceptz, which is also home to other gospel singers like Judikay, GUC, and Chidinma Ekile.
Mercy Chinwo’s acting career and movies
Mercy Chinwo debuted as an actress a year after she won the Nigerian Idol show. She starred as ‘Lucia’ in Yvonne Nelson’s 2013 self-produced comedy film titled ‘House of Gold’. The movie was directed by Pascal Amanfo and featured other celebrities like Majid Michel, Ice Prince, Eddie Watson, Francis Odega, and Omawunmi.
