Yemi Alade is a Nigerian Afropop singer and songwriter.
She is often cited as one of the biggest and globally recognized female artists from Nigeria with several awards and recognition to her name. She has also been addressed as the “Queen of Afropop” in some reports.
Yemi Alade’s early life and childhood
Yemi Alade was born on March 13, 1989, in Abia State, Nigeria, but she grew up in Lagos. She is currently 33 years old, as of February 2022. She is the fifth of six siblings, including a sister named Jessica Ejiofor (yet to be verified) and her younger brother named Durojaiye Alade.

Her late father, James Alade was a Commissioner of Police before this death in January 2015.

Yemi Alade is Yoruba but partly Igbo. She was born to a Yoruba father and an Igbo mother. Her late father, James Alade, was a native of Ondo State while her mother, Helen Uzoma, hails from Abia state.

How Yemi Alade started her career
Yemi Alade began her music career in 2009 when she won the Peak Talent Show in the same year.
Her career took a positive turn in 2013 when she released her hit single “Johnny”. Johnny was released as the lead single of her debut album “King of Queens” which was released in 2014.
The song was produced by Selebobo and the music video was directed by Clarence Peters. The comedy-themed single had special appearances by popular stars like Bovi, Alex Ekubo, and Beverly Osu.
The song was once the most viewed song by a Nigerian artiste on YouTube and earned her two major nominations. Due to the song’s success, the singer went ahead to release the French version of the same track and automatically became the first Nigerian artist to do a song in French.

There were intense rumours around 2014 that Yemi Alade was in a romantic relationship with Nollywood actor and model Alex Ekubo. The rumour started shortly after Alex featured in Yemi Alade’s “Johnny” music video, playing her love interest.
The rumours got stronger when the two were seen at the Africa Magic Viewer’s Choice Awards event, walking arm in arm. When asked about the rumours, the singer did not answer, only admitting that the actor is a cool and loveable guy.

In January 2021, Patoranking took to his Twitter page to share some photos of him and Yemi Alade clad in traditional wedding outfits. Yemi Alade also shared the same photos on her page.
The posts caused a storm online, leading to widespread speculations that Yemi Alade and Patoranking have tied the knot.
It was later discovered that the photos were just a publicity stunt to promote the music video of Patoranking’s new single “Mon Bebe” where Yemi Alade played his love interest.
Even though the wedding photos were fake, fans still think they look good together and should settle down. However, Patoranking is a single father of one child and has not declared his intentions to get married soon.
