Actress Chioma Toplis thrown into prison for ‘malicious Facebook post’

Nollywood actress Chioma Toplis has been remanded in a prison facility in Abia State over a Facebook post she made against one of the chiefs in the state.

According to information gathered by DNB Stories Africa, Chioma Toplis was dragged to court over a “malicious publication” she made on Facebook against one Chief Uche Akwukwuegbu, popularly known as BAWAS.

Chief Uche Akwukwuegbu a.k.a BAWAS is the current Chairman of Abia State Traditional Prime Ministers Council, DNB Stories Africa learnt.

The actress allegedly described the “high chief” as a “rapist and ritualist” in her post.

Part of the Facebook post in question read:

“Ur rapist father invited his daughter-in-law (now Ex) to Nigeria without his son’s consent and slept with her”.

There was no plea for bail from Toplis’ lawyers after the charges were read and the chief magistrate, Mr Idika Kalu, ordered that the accused be remanded at the Afara Correctional Centre in Umuahia.

The matter was adjourned till April 14, 2022, for further hearing.

Chioma Toplis Biography

Chioma Toplis is a popular Nigerian actress known for her performances in movies like “Stolen Bible” (2004), “Trinity” (2005) and “Eran and Eraq” (2002). Her full name is Chioma Elizabeth Toplis and she was born on November 14, 1972, in Umuahia, Abia State.

According to reports, Chioma Toplis who is currently 49 years old has been married to her White husband named Andrew Toplis for over a decade now. They reportedly share three children together, including a daughter named Samantha Toplis.
