In 1992, he was officially recognized for having the most studio albums released by a solo artist. Between 1969 and 1992, Fela recorded 46 albums – a record that still stands strong in African music history.

2. Wizkid

Wizkid has his name in the Guinness World Records more than once. His first recognition came in 2016 for his feature on Drake’s global hit “One Dance”, which became the first song to reach one billion streams on Spotify. In 2021, Wizkid made history again after being recognized for having the most awards won at the All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA).

3. Rema

Rema is one of the newest Nigerian artists to earn a Guinness World Record. In 2023, his hit song “Calm Down” made history as the first No. 1 song on the Official MENA Chart, earning him a Guinness World Record. “Calm Down (Remix)” featuring Selena Gomez also became the first African song to reach one billion streams on Spotify.

While Tacha’s record has not been officially confirmed by GWR (as of the time of writing), she made headlines after attempting the record for the most makeovers done in 24 hours. In October 2025, the former Big Brother Naija star completed 145 makeovers in one day, including 65 done within 5 hours.

2.  Tunde Onakoya

In 2025, Nigerian chess player Tunde Onakoya earned the Guinness World Record for the longest chess marathon. He played continuously for 64 hours from April 17–20, 2025, in Times Square, New York City, US, alongside Shawn Martinez. He had previously broken the same record in 2024, playing for 60 hours, but was later surpassed by a Norwegian duo recording 61 hours, 3 minutes, and 34 seconds.

Hilda Baci

Nigerian celebrity chef Hilda Baci has attempted the Guinness World Records twice.
