#OccupyLekki protest: Mr Macaroni, over 20 others arrested

No protest happening, Police are arresting anyone that shows up.

The planned #OccupyLekkiTollGate has suffered a setback after troops of security operatives stormed the area.

More than 20 protesters have been arrested including popular social media comedian, Mr Macaroni.

The arrested persons were forced into a Black Maria and then driven down to Adeniji Central Police Station on Okepopo Road, Lagos Island.

A DNB Stories reporter on site said the Police were “arresting and moving” anyone appearing to be a protester that shows up at the Lekki Tollgate area.

The security also picked up people who said they were only walking past.

Our reporter said:

“At around 7:15 am, a small group of protesters showed up with placards. They were immediately arrested before they could settle and forced into the black police van (Black Maria) and taken away.”

More arrests continued and as at 8:45 am, the Lekki tollgate area is still calm with nothing with the semblance of a protest happening.

Moment Policemen seized Mr Macaroni’s phone to stop him from continuing his Instagram live video:
