Thieves steal physically disabled woman’s wheelchair in Africa

A 32-year-old physically disabled woman named Olivia Nakugudo has been left stranded after her wheelchair was stolen by suspected thieves who broken into her apartment on Tuesday night, March 16.

Olivia Nakugudo who lives in Namunsi village in Mbale – a city in the Eastern Region of Uganda – narrated in tears that she woke up on Wednesday morning to find that thieves had broken into her apartment at night.

The robbers went away with several of Nakugudo’s belongings including her reliable tricycle wheelchair which she uses to go to work.

Fighting tears, Olivia Nakugudo told a journalist:

“I have no legs, that wheelchair has been my legs, my children who entirely rely on me will not get food and other necessities any more.”

Nakugudo said her missing wheelchair is black in colour with spotted blue handles and pleaded with anyone that sees the stolen wheelchair to report to the nearby police station or the local news network.
