How Kelvin Ikeduba started his career
Kelvin Ikeduba joined the Nigerian movie industry in 2000 and has remained consistent ever since. He described his journey into Nollywood as a coincidence, explaining that he had accompanied a friend to an audition, and on getting there he decided to give it a shot.
Fortunately, his audition was successful as he got a callback and was given a role.
His ability to understand and communicate in all three major Nigerian languages (Igbo, Hausa and Yoruba) proved a great advantage to his career.
He debuted his acting career in English movies but eventually diversified into the Yoruba movie industry with the help of Femi Ogedengbe who introduced him to Saheed Balogun.
According to reports, filmmaker Saheed Balogun gave him his first Yoruba movie role in a project titled “Omo Alhaja”.
According to Kelvin Ikeduba, he wanted a challenge and he saw being cast in a Yoruba movie as a good challenge. His next movie was “Ogidan” by Kolade Afolabi, where he played a lead role.
From there, his popularity among Yoruba movie lovers soared and would later win the award for “Best Cross-Over Actor” at the 2014 Yoruba Movie Academy Awards (YMAA).
