Who is Richard Mofe Damijo (RMD)?
Richard Mofe Damijo (RMD) is a veteran multiple-award-winning Nigerian actor, writer, producer, and lawyer. He is the CEO of RMD Productions Limited.
RMD’s full name is Richard Eyimofe Evans Mofe Damijo. He was born on 6 July, 1961 in Aladja Community of Udu Kingdom, near Warri, Delta State.
The 60-year-old-year actor obtained a degree in Theatre Arts from the University of Benin before proceeding to the University of Lagos to study law, graduating in 2004.
Richard Mofe Damijo’s career in acting has spanned over two decades. He was part of the cast of the late ’80s NTA soap opera, ‘Ripples‘. He debuted as a writer and producer with the 1997 movie titled ‘Out of Bounds’.
RMD is often referred to as the ‘hottest grandpa‘ by fans due to his looks. He was appointed as Special Adviser, Culture and Tourism in 2008 by the ex-Governor of Delta State, Emmanuel Uduaghan. He was later appointed as the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism in 2009 up until 2015.
RMD has featured in over 300 movies as an actor and produced several. Some of his most notable movies include Out of Bounds (1997), Diamond Ring (1998), The Intruder (1999), Love (2003), Darkest Night (2004), Baby Girl (2005)), 30 Days in Atlanta (2014), The Wedding Party 1 and 2 (2016 and 2017), King of Boys: The Return of the King (2021), etc.
Richard Mofe Damijo’s (RMD) marriage and wives
RMD has been married twice.
His first marriage was with May Ellen-Ezekiel (MEE), a Nigerian publisher and journalist with whom he fathered a male child. Unfortunately, the marriage ended in 1996 after he lost May to the cold hands of death.
Reports had it that the actor’s first wife died from complications of a fibroid surgery she underwent. Four years after his first wife’s death, RMD got married again to Jumobi Adegbesan, a TV presenter who worked with African Independent Television (AIT) in the 90s.

Not much is known about RMD’s first marriage with May Ellen-Ezekiel (MEE), probably because the actor was not yet a public figure as of the time he married his late wife.
It is only known that late May Ellen-Ezekiel was a journalist and publisher and she lost her life in 1996 from complications of a fibroid operation.

Following the death of his first wife, RMD got married again to Jumobi Adegbesan on 29 December 2000 after dating her for a while. He married her four years after he lost his first wife.
It was heard that Jumobi Adegbesan had always fantasized about being with the movie star before God eventually answered her prayers. Reports also had it that she quit her job as a TV host to join the corporate world after her marriage to RMD.

May Ellen-Ezekiel (MEE) was RMD’s late first wife who died back in 1996. She was a journalist, writer and publisher who died in 1996 from complications of a fibroid surgery she had.
According to reports, May had two surgeries to remove the fibroid. The second surgery led to complications that took her life in March 1996.
May Ellen-Ezekiel (MEE) is the mother of RMD’s first son named Oghenekome Mofe Damijo.

It is only known that she is a girl who is often in her father’s company. The actor also took to his Instagram page in 2019 to celebrate her as she graduated from high school.
