Elevator Baby receives favourable reviews among Nigerians

Niyi Akinmolayan’s Elevator Baby is now on Netflix and many Nigerians who missed seeing the movie at the cinemas finally got another chance to watch it.

The 2019 thriller/drama film has garnered mostly favourable reviews among Nigerians with many praising Timini Egbuson and Shafy Bello’s performances.

Toyin Abraham’s portrayal of Abigail, a pregnant semi-illiterate woman who goes into labour in an elevator, also received critical acclaim. The film’s most memorable line – My name is Abigail! – came from her.

Elevator Baby tells the story of a rich and badly behaved young man (Dare) who gets stuck in a faulty elevator with a semi-illiterate pregnant woman and she goes into labour.

Timini Egbuson won the Best Actor in a Drama at the 2020 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) for his portrayal of Dare in Elevator Baby.
