Popular Nigerian rapper M.I Abaga has stated the reason he did not join his colleagues at the recent #ENDSARS protests in Lagos.
Recall Nigerian youths had on October 8 and 9th taken to the streets in Lagos in their numbers to protest against the brutality of men of the SARS police unit.
The protest was led by musicians Falz and Runtown and was joined in by other notable Nigerian celebrities including Tiwa Savage, Rude Boy, Mc Macaroni, etc.
The protesters numbering hundreds marched from the Police Headquarters in Ikeja to Lekki Toll Gate, bearing placards and chanting “END SARS!”.
Runtown, speaking during the protest said they are not asking for a reform of the police unit but total scrapping of SARS.
The 31-year-old singer and songwriter said:
“We don’t need a reform or restructuring, we want the government to put an End to SARS.”
Fellow musician, M.I while tweeting his support for the protest said he could not join because of his health condition.
The rapper wrote on Twitter:
“Unfortunately, I’m still not feeling well enough to be outside but I stand with @falzthebahdguy and @iRuntown and all the amazing young people using their voices to say #EndSars.”
