The death of Nollywood veteran filmmaker Chico Ejiro on Christmas Day has cast a solemn mood to the holiday celebrations for people in the Nigerian movie industry.
The legendary movie director and producer died in the early hours of Christmas Day – Friday, December 25, 2020.
A source informed DNB Stories that Mr Ejiro has been treating high blood pressure for a while now. He died from a seizure which is thought to be a complication of the disease on Friday morning.
Chico Ejiro was the younger brother of veteran filmmaker, Zeb Ejiro. He was one of the well known Nollywood movie directors and has worked in over 100 projects.
He is survived by his wife, Joy Ejiro and their four children.
Many of Nigerian movie stars and celebrities have expressed sadness over the filmmaker’s death.
Actress Uche Jombo wrote:
“I’m saddened by the death of a senior colleague, Big Brother, friend and of course one of the early pioneer of the Home Video industry later known as Nollywood. Rest in peace Chico Ejiro! Devastating news this Christmas day.”
