Renowned Nigerian economist Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala who was recently appointed the new director-general of the World Trade Organization (WTO) – the first woman to hold that position – has resumed office.
The WTO on Monday, March 1, 2021, posted photos of Dr Okonjo-Iweala’s first day in office.
Not only is Dr Okonjo-Iweala the first woman to hold the position of WTO’s DG, she is also the first African person ever to be appointed for the top job.
