‘Evans The Kidnapper’ and two others sentenced for life

Kidnap gang leader Chukwudimeme Onwuamadike, better known as “Evans The Kidnapper” has been sentenced to life in prison by the Lagos High Court, Ikeja, alongside two of his accomplices named Uche Amadi and Okwuchukwu Nwachukwu.

Evans and the other two men were found guilty of two counts of criminal conspiracy and kidnapping by the court and were handed a “jail for life” sentence.

According to Justice Hakeem Oshodi who gave the ruling, there is overwhelming evidence to prove that the men committed the crime.

The ruling brings to conclusion a case that has lasted nearly five years. Evans and his cohorts were arrested and charged with the kidnapping of Maydon Pharmaceuticals MD, Mr. Donatus Dunu, in 2017.

It was reported that the gang had collected the sum of €223,000 in ransom for his release.

In 2020, it was falsely rumoured that the serial kidnapper had received a death sentence but this was later proven to be incorrect as the case was still ongoing as of then.
