ASUU extends nationwide strike to August

ASUU strike

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has extended its strike for another 12 weeks on Monday.

Prof. Emmanuel Osodeke, president of ASUU, made the announcement in a statement. Osodeke explained that this was done to give the administration adequate time to resolve any pending issues.

The roll-over strike begins at 12:01 a.m. on May 8, 2021.

The decision was made following the ASUU National Executive Council meeting, which began on Sunday night at the University of Abuja’s Comrade Festus Iyayi National Secretariat.

ASUU accused the Federal Government of being insincere throughout the meeting. ASUU is also calling for the release of university revitalization funding, as well as the renegotiation and implementation of the 2009 FGN/ASUU agreement.
