Nigeria’s vice president Yemi Osinbajo has forwarded a petition to the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, demanding an investigation into the defamatory allegations made against him by blogger Jackson Ude.
Jackson Ude who runs an online blog called Point Blank News had earlier published a story alleging that Osinbajo received N4 billion from suspended EFCC boss, Ibrahim Magu.
In Osinbajo’s petition against Jackson Ude, written by his lawyer, Bayo Osipitan, on his behalf, the Vice-President said Ude likened him to fraud suspect Ramon Abbas aka Hushpuppi by calling him ‘Hush-bajo’.
Osinbajo said Ude’s publications were defamatory and capable of bringing him to ridicule before members of the public.
Printed copies of some of the blogger’s articles were also attached to the petition. Osinbajo said Jackson Ude was in the habit of publishing malicious articles against his person and called on the IG to probe the blogger with a view to prosecuting him for criminal defamation.
Jackson Ude, a former director of strategy and communications under President Goodluck Jonathan administration, published that Ibrahim Magu embezzled over N39 billion and had given Yemi Osinbajo N4 billion out of the money.
