Today marks the 29th birthday anniversary of Nigerian musician Burna Boy and Nigerians have trooped to top social media platforms to celebrate the star.
Burna Boy whose real name is Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu Rex was born on July 2, 1991. He turned 29 today.
Often dubbed the “African Giant”, Burna Boy has achieved impressive success in music, with many hit songs to his name including the 2019 banger “Killin Dem”.
Burna Boy has also been nominated and won several prestigious awards. Burna Boy is a two-time BET Best International Act winner.
In 2019, Burna Boy received a Grammy nomination in the Best World Music Album category for his 2019 record African Giant. He later lost to Beninese music legend Angélique Kidjo.
Burna Boy recorded a song called “Jara e” for Beyoncé’s The Lion King: The Gift album.
“Jara e” is a Yoruba word that means “stay wise” or “use your head”.
The album featured other African artistes including Wizkid, Tiwa Savage and Yemi Alade, but Burna Boy was the only guest artist with their own track on Beyoncé’s The Gift album.
