Popular American drag queen Chi Chi DeVayne dies of pneumonia

Popular American drag performer Chi Chi DeVayne has died of pneumonia complications.

Chi Chi was earlier diagnosed with scleroderma (a rare disease that affects the skin, connective tissue, and internal organs) back in 2018.

Chi Chi DeVayne who was 34 years old was reported dead on Thursday, August 20, less than a week after she informed her Instagram followers that she was back in the hospital.

Chi Chi DeVayne whose real name is Zavion Davenport came to fame after appearing on the popular American reality TV show for drag queens called RuPaul’s Drag Race. Chi Chi participated in the 8th season of the show and later returned for an All-Stars season.

The drag queen’s death was confirmed in a family statement which reads: “It is with tremendous sorrow that my family and I announce the passing of my beloved son, Zavion Michael Davenport, the world-renowned ‘Chi Chi DeVayne.”

The Drag Race family have mourned Chi Chi, writing:

“You may not be with us physically, but the moments you shined, the smiles you brought, the talent you displayed will be with us forever. Rest easy, Queen. We love you, Chi Chi.”
