Buhari expresses shock, grief over killing of 43 Borno farmers by Boko Haram

Nigeria’s president, General Muhammadu Buhari has expressed shock and grief over the killing of 43 rice farmers in Borno State by Boko Haram insurgents.

The incident was reported to have occurred on rice fields at Zabarmari in Jere Local Government Area of Borno State. The terrorists were reported to have first tied up the rice farmers before slitting their throats one after another.

The president while reacting to the report described the action of the insurgents as senseless.

In a statement released by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, President Muhammadu Buhari said:

“I condemn the killing of our hard-working farmers by terrorists in Borno State. The entire country is hurt by these senseless killings. My thoughts are with their families in this time of grief. May their souls rest in peace.”

Boko Haram terrorists had on Saturday, November 28 reportedly killed around 43 rice farmers in Kwashebe village, located near Maiduguri, the state capital.
