Governor Wike criticized for spending millions on Burna Boy, others, despite owing workers 5 years salaries

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has come under massive attack on social media following news of him promising Burna Boy a house in Old GRA, Port Harcourt and giving N10 million each to all the artistes that performed at Burna Boy’s Homecoming Concert held on Saturday, March 27.

Governor Wike, speaking during the Homecoming Concert held in celebration of his Burna Boy’s Grammy win last week said all the singers that performed at the concert will go home with N10 million each.

Governor Wike has been severely criticized for the massive giveaways despite owing workers in the state salaries for five years.

Just last week, public school teachers in Rivers State took to the streets to protest over five years of non-payment of their salaries.

The protesting teachers, numbering over 250, stormed the streets with placards and banners to express their pain.

The protesting teachers also said that they have lost about ten of their colleagues due to the hardship brought on by many years of unpaid salaries.
