Former senator and Afenifere leader, Pa Fasanmi is dead

Nigerian former senator and leader of the Afenifere political group Pa Ayo Fasanmi is dead.

Pa Fasanmi died on Wednesday night in Osogbo, Osun State, after a brief illness. He was 94.

One of Pa Fasanmi’s children, Afolabi, has confirmed the news of their father’s death.

Afolabi wrote in a statement: “With gratitude to the Almighty God for a life well spent, we wish to announce the demise of our father, Senator Ayo Fasanmi, at the ripe age of 94 years.”

The Afenifere socio-cultural group was founded in 1998 for the interest of Yorubaland in federal politics.
