Popular Lagos prophet Israel Oladele Ogundipe, popularly known as Israel Genesis, has been sentenced to jail for defrauding a UK-based woman by a Lagos High Court.
The judgement was delivered by Justice Olabisi Akinlade of the Lagos State High Court who on Wednesday, November 18, found the prophet guilty of two out of seven-count charges.
Prophet Oladele Genesis who is the Shepherd-in-Charge of CCC Global Genesis Church located in Lagos was accused of defrauding a UK-based woman named Mrs Olaide Williams-Oni of around N17 million.
Williams-Oni said she gave the pastor a total of N17 million after a prayer visit on the promise that he would help her procure some landed property in Nigeria.
Justice Akinlade in a judgment that lasted for about four hours sentenced the defendant, Prophet Oladele Genesis to a year imprisonment each for two of the 7 charges.
She dismissed the rest 5 for lack of evidence against him.
