Second wave of COVID-19 in Nigeria is imminent – Health Minister warns

Nigeria’s Minister of Health Dr Osagie Emmanuel Ehanire has warned that a second wave of the coronavirus pandemic is imminent in Nigeria considering the carefree way Nigerians are going about the disease.

Ehanire gave the warning while speaking at the virtual Annual General Meeting and Scientific Conference of the Guild of Medical Directors in Lagos State.

The online conference themed ‘Post-COVID-19 Era: Economics and Healthcare Delivery in Nigeria’ was held on Saturday, October 31, 2020.

Dr Ehanire said Nigerians should learn from other countries in Europe and America already experiencing a second wave of COVID-19 pandemic and do better.

Mr Ehanire said:

“I fear that with the laxity displayed by our own population, our own second wave is imminent.”

The Minister called on Nigerians to take COVID-19 more seriously and keep ensuring that they obey all the laid-down protocols for the control of the virus such as hand-washing, use of face masks, social distancing, etc.
