Socialite Chidinma Ogbulu in court for sharing fuel as party souvenir

Lagos-based socialite and businesswoman Ms Chidinma Ogbulu, popularly known as Erelu Okin Pearl, has been arraigned before a Special Offences Mobile Court in Oshodi for distributing petrol as a souvenir during a party she organized.

Ogbulu was arraigned on Monday, March 14, on a four-count charge of:

  • conduct likely to cause breach of peace
  • endangering human lives by distributing combustible matter in a public gathering
  • intent to do harm to another and
  • unlawfully carrying on the business of storage and containerising petroleum product without a permit.

Recall that a video showing containers of petrol Ms Chidinma Ogbulu distributed to guests at a party she organized trended on social media last week.

According to information gathered by DNB Stories Africa, Ms Chidinma Ogbulu (known on Instagram as @lapearlnyc) had thrown the party to celebrate a new chieftaincy title she just acquired.

According to the police, Ms Ogbulu’s action contravened sections 251(1), 168 (1) and 244 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State (2015), and Section 195 (2)(b) of the Environmental Management Protection Law of Lagos State (2017).

Ms Chidinma Ogbulu was granted bail in the sum of N2m with two adequate sureties and the case adjourned till March 24 for trial.
