Nigerian singer Dbanj was yesterday invited to Abuja by the police to answer questions concerning the rape allegation against him.
Dbanj whose real name is Dapo Oyebanjo was interrogated by the Nigerian Police Force over the rape allegation levelled against him by Miss Seyitan Babatayo.
Miss seyitan Babatayo who has filed a formal criminal complaint against Dbanj revealed earlier in June 2020, that she was raped by the music star back in 2018.
According to PUNCH, Dbanj was grilled by an Assistant Commissioner of Police, Adaku Anya, at the Force Criminal Investigation Department, Garki, Abuja.
“D’Banj has been questioned twice at the FCID, Abuja. He was questioned last week and also this week. We will leave no stone unturned as we investigate the matter,” a top police source revealed.
The report also says Babatayo was invited to write a statement but couldn’t make it because she had no means of travelling to Abuja and opted to visit a police unit in Lagos.
Miss Babatayo’s friend, Benjamin Ese, alleged that Dbanj raped his friend (Seyitan) on December 31, 2018, at Glee Hotel in Victoria Island, Lagos.
Seyitan later came out to say she is the lady Ese was referring to. She confirmed the incident happened and demanded a public apology from Dbanj.
Dbanj in his defence denied raping Babatayo and filed a suit demanding N100M in compensation.
The matter took another turn on Wednesday, June 17, 2020, when Babatayo was reportedly arrested by policemen from Sodipo Command, Ikeja on the instruction of Dbanj and his team.
Babatayo released a press statement on Wednesday, June 24, 2020, where she narrated all that transpired during her arrest.
In the statement, Miss Seyitan Babatayo disclosed that she has officially filed a criminal complaint against Dbanj.
