Bonang Matheba is a South African television personality, actress, author, model, philanthropist and radio personality. She is best known for her exceptional presenting skills and signature voice. She is often referred to as “Queen B” and “Your Girl B”.
Early life and education
Bonang Matheba’s full name is Bonang Dorothy Matheba. She was born on June 25, 1989, in Mafikeng, officially known as Mahikeng, South Africa. She is 34 years old as of April 2022.
Bonang was raised by her parents as the first child of three children. Her mother, Charlotte Mokoena, is the executive vice president for human resource and corporate affairs at Sasol – a South African energy company. While her father, Gampi Matheba, was a senior lecturer at North-West University.
According to reports sighted by DNB Stories Africa, Bonang has two half-siblings from her mother’s side named Reabetswe Sechoaro and Thabo Mokoena. They share the same mother but different fathers.
Bonang attended Fourways High School, a government-owned school in Fourways, Johannesburg. She later proceeded to the University of Johannesburg to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing.

How Bonang Matheba started her career
Bonang Matheba is said to be a woman blessed with many gifts and talents. In 2002, at the age of 15, she got a role in the kid’s game series “Manhattan’s Fantasy Challenge”. After featuring in the show, she went back to school to focus on her studies.
In 2007, she became a household name after auditioning for the first season of the SABC music show right after leaving university. In 2008, Bonang collaborated with fashion brand LEGiT on a celebrity clothing line called “Just B”. This successful partnership led to another collaboration with a London-based handbags designer called “Babystar”.
In 2009, she made her debut as a radio presenter on a radio show called “The B*Hive”. In 2011, Bonang became the first South African celebrity to launch an online reality show called “B Dazzled”. That same year, she became the very first South African to feature on the cover of FHM (For Him Magazine) South Africa.
In 2013, she signed a deal with an international cosmetic brand “Revlon” as a beauty ambassador, becoming the first South African woman to be the face of “Revlon”. In 2014, she collaborated with Woolworths on a luxury lingerie line called “Bonang For Distraction”. In 2017, she released her autobiography titled “From A to B”. The show which premiered on Showmax on April 8, 2022 features casts like Chioma Ikokwu, Toyin Lawani-Adebayo, Iyabo Ojo, Mariam Timmer, Laura Ikeji and Caroline Hutchings Danjuma.
As an actress, Bonang has featured in movies like Coming To America (2021) and Public Figure (2019). She also appeared on the South African reality TV show, “Presenter Search on 3” in 2015.

Bonang Matheba and AKA relationship
Bonang Matheba was reported to be in a relationship with South African rapper, AKA, for two years. Bonang Matheba and AKA’s relationship was known to be an on-and-off affair. Some people even referred to it as a publicity stunt. The two reportedly broke up in 2018 following unresolved differences.
The exact cause of their split is still unknown to the public, but it was speculated that they broke up because AKA cheated on Bonang with South African model and socialite Nicole Nyaba. Before starting the relationship, AKA reportedly also cheated on the mother of his child, DJ Zinhle, with Bonang. Kiernan Jarryd Forbes, known professionally as AKA, is a South African singer, songwriter, record producer, and entrepreneur.

Bonang Matheba and record producer and disc jockey, Themba Nkosi, professionally known as Euphonik, dated in 2012, in the early stage of her fame. At the time, it seemed as if Bonang had finally found her match because the love birds appeared inseparable and there were speculations about them getting married.
Euphonik was charged with assault after news of him physically assaulting Bonang surfaced online, but she dropped all charges after they both reconciled. After dropping the charges, fans accused Bonang of having lied about the incident. She denied these claims, stating that she never anticipated being badly treated when the news of her break-up surfaced online. She also mentioned her relationship with Euphonik in her book “From A To B”, but she removed the reference in the second edition of the book.

Speculations about Bonang Matheba and D’banj’s relationship started when they both shared a kiss at the MTV Africa Music Awards in July 2015. Afterwards, the two were seen enjoying holidays overseas and spoiling each other with expensive gifts.
The relationship reportedly ended after D’Banj openly expressed his love for his ex-girlfriend of that time, Adama India. D’Banj is currently married to his wife, Lineo Didi Kilgrow, and the couple is blessed with two children.

Earlier this year, Bonang Matheba shared a video where she was seen interacting and flirting with South African rapper, Siyabonga Nene professionally known as Big Zulu. Not long after, fans started speculating that the two might be having a romantic affair. Big Zulu denied the rumours, stating that the conversation she shared with Bonang Matheba was only a friendly chat and nothing of such was going on between them.
