Niniola is a Nigerian singer, vocalist, songwriter, and stage performer. She is known for her popular songs including “Maradona” and “Designer” and many others. She is often referred to as the “Queen of Afro-House” in some reports.
Niniola’s full name is Niniola Apata. She was born on December 15, 1986, in Lagos, Nigeria, but originally hails from Ekiti State. She is 34 years old as of April 2022. The artiste grew up in a polygamous home as the sixth child of ten siblings raised by three mothers and a father.
Her father, Simon Olaosebikan Apata was a retired Nigerian Army Brigadier-General and was assassinated on January 8, 1995. Niniola is the older sister of Nigerian entertainer, Teni.

How Niniola started her career
Niniola’s career in the Nigerian entertainment industry took off in 2013 after she emerged as the third runner-up of the MTN Project Fame West Africa talent show. While on Project Fame, Niniola earned appraise for the way she performed Kcee’s hit song “Limpopo” and her original song “Itura” which was produced by Cobhams Asuquo.
Before that, she participated in various activities and competitions during her secondary school days and was tagged “Human Radio” by her friends because of her clear vocals.
Niniola has mentioned stars like Dolly Parton, The Cranberries, Beyonce, Madonna, Angelique Kidjo, and Celine Dion helped inspire her. Her music career professionally started on March 19, 2014, with the release of her debut single “Ibadi” which was produced by Sarz.
To keep the ball rolling, Niniola carved a niche for herself when she stated that her genre is to be considered “Afro-House”, which is a blend of Afrobeat and House music.

In 2019, American superstar Beyoncé sampled parts of Niniola’s “Maradonna” in her song “Find Your Way Back” which appeared on Beyoncé’s “The Lion King: The Gift” album. In April 2020, Niniola went on to receive a Grammy nomination certificate for her contribution to the album.
