Khosi Ngema was born on November 2, 2000, in Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa. She is 21 years old as of April 2022. According to reports, Khosi was born into a family of creatives. She was raised by her parents as the second child of five children.
Her father, Mangaliso Ngema is a veteran South African actor known for his roles in popular series like Vehicle 19, Mary and Martha, and Lithapo. Her mother, Busisiwe Ngema is very supportive of her daughter’s career, however, not much is known about her. Khosi Ngema is the granddaughter of Patience Nomkhosi Africa, a popular South African singer and songwriter adored for her exceptional acting skills. Patience Nomkhosi Africa died of cardiac disease in June 2007.
Khosi Ngema has four siblings. They include: Swazi Ngema, Unathi Ngema, Busani Ngema and Mpande Ngema. She is also the cousin of popular South African actress, Simphiwe Ngema. How Khosi Ngema started her career
Khosi Ngema had always had a dream and passion for acting ever since she was young. She initially started her career as a songwriter and model and had wanted to be an Instagram influencer before her breakthrough came in 2020 when she landed the role of Fikile “Fiks” Bhele on the Netflix TV series “Blood and Water”.
Khosi Ngema is one of the few young actors in South Africa who has risen to the top of the industry through a single television show. “Blood and Water” is one of Netflix’s top-grossing shows from South Africa.
In 2021, the actress took a plunge into entrepreneurship when she launched her jewellery collection in collaboration with “Grace The Brand”. She got to share her passion for music and jewellery with her fans through necklaces like “Eartha” named after Eartha Kitt, wristbands like “Billie” named after Billie Holiday, a ring “Simone” named after Nina Simone, and Cybil named after her late grandmother “Patience Nomkhosi Africa”.

“Blood and Water” is a Netflix teen drama series that premiered on May 20, 2020. This successful drama series was written and directed by Nosipho Dumisa Ngoasheng, Daryne Joshua and Travis Taute. The show features other cast members like Ama Qamata as Puleng Khumalo, Thabang Molaba as Karabo Molapo, Ryle De Morny as Chad Morgan, Arno Greeff as Chris Ackerman, Natasha Thahane as Wendy Dlamini, among others.
In an interview, Khosi Ngema revealed that she was sent to audition for the role of Puleng but was later told to audition for the role of Fikile because the director of the series, Nosipho Dumisa Ngoasheng saw something striking in her that she liked.
She got the callback and was told she got the role. The show was shot in Capetown, so Khosi Ngema had to leave her home in Johannesburg and was on location for 12 weeks filming the show.
