Wondering why a lot of Nigerian Twitter users are talking about 580k?
The talk started when a Nigerian woman shared how much her husband spent on the marriage list given to him by her parents.
According to the lady identified as Elohor Okudu, she had persuaded her parents to reduce the list but they refused.
In the story Elohor narrated, her husband eventually raised the money and the wedding proceeded. But issues began arising in the marriage after she advised her husband to be sending some money to her parents every month – as he does his own parents – and he declined.
Elohor said her husband told her he owes her parents nothing.
When Elohor’s younger brother wanted to get married and got a similar list from his own in-laws, their parents asked that the expenses be shared among family members.
Elohor said her husband was asked to contribute 120K as part of this expenses but again he refused, reminding her that her parents “have collected all they are entitled to from him.”
Elohor said this had gotten her angry and the matter has created a lot of issues in the marriage. She said they now live like strangers as her husband would not talk to her.
