An 85-year-old primary school in Shanghai has caused an online stir after it was totally lifted off the ground and relocated to a new site using a never-before-seen technology called the “walking machine”.
The primary school named the Lagena Primary School was reportedly built in 1935 by the municipal board of Shanghai’s former French Concession.
It was recently moved to a new location in China in order to make space for a new office complex.
It took 18 days to complete the relocation. Nearly 200 mobile supports were attached under the building and they move the building as they rise up and down, working like robotic legs.
The new Chinese technology is now dubbed the “walking machine”.
