A$AP Rocky (pronounced as AYSAP Rocky) is an American rapper, singer, songwriter and record producer. He is well known for hit songs like “Fuckin’ Problems”, which featured Drake and Kendrick Lamar, “Praise the Lord”, etc. A$AP Rocky also releases music under the pseudonym, Lord Flacko.
He is also popular in the media for being the current boyfriend and baby daddy of Barbadian singer and businesswoman Rihanna.
A$AP Rocky’s real name is Rakim Athelaston Mayers. He was born on October 3, 1988, in Harlem, New York City, United States. As of October 2022, A$AP Rocky is 34 years old.
Meaning of A$AP
A$AP is an acronym for “Always Strive And Prosper”. A$AP Rocky belongs to an American entertainment group called A$AP Mob which consists of over a dozen rappers (most of who bear the A$AP title like him). The group also includes music producers, music video directors and fashion designers. A$AP Rocky joined A$AP Mob in 2007, a year after it was founded.

A$AP Rocky’s mother, Renee Black is from Barbados. She named A$AP Rocky after her hip-hop hero, Rakim. After A$AP Rocky’s father, Adrian Mayers was jailed, the family fell into hard times. He learned how to rap from his older brother, Ricky Mayers, who wore the cornrows hairstyle that A$AP Rocky later adopted. A$AP Rocky uploaded two videos to his Instagram page. In the first, A$AP Rocky and his entourage were telling two young men (Jafari and another person) to stop following them. In the second video, Jafari hit one of A$AP Rocky’s security operatives with his headphones. A$AP Rocky’s lawyer maintained that Rocky was acting in self-defence. A$AP Rocky was arrested but was allowed to finish his show in Sweden. A$AP Rocky was convicted of assault and was given a suspended prison sentence. He was asked to pay 12,500Kr in damages to Jafari.
