A South Africa man reportedly killed his fiancée for opening his bottle of whiskey before him, the Daily Sun reports.
According to the news report, the 35-year-old man from Tswelopele near Midrand in South Africa stabbed his 27-year-old fiancée to death on discovering she had opened his bottle of Jameson whiskey and having a sip in his absence.
“I’m the only one entitled to open the liquor as the head of the household,” he told the police when being interrogated.
“It’s my culture.”
It was gathered that his fiancee, Palesa Moloi (27), had seen the whiskey bottle inside the cupboard and could not resist, so she went ahead, opened it and took a sip.
Captain Bernard Matimulane who spoke to newsmen said when the police arrived at the couple’s rented room, they found the drunken suspect staring at Palesa’s body.
“When police interrogated him, he told them he killed the woman because she opened his bottle of whiskey and drank some while he was not around,” he said.
“He told the cops only he, as the head of the household, was entitled to open the liquor.
“He claimed it was his culture.”
The suspect who has been charged with murder, is expected to appear in the Tembisa Magistrates Court on Thursday.
